A flash of fiction

Hello lovers,

One of the things I did in 2023, as one of the Three Moms of the Apocalypse, was issue a challenge at all the conventions we attended. Write a short story in 50 words. No more. No less.

These short flashes of fiction were so much fun and I got to watch several writers improve their craft over the year. We selected 20 of the best from each challenge and published a series of Postcard anthologies.

This last weekend, I was at Marscon, the first convention we issued the challenge at last year, and felt a little nostalgic. So, I wrote another Postcard story and I'm sharing it with you.

Alley Cat

He’d been warned about following cats down alleys on distant planets.

“It’s not Earth,” they said. “The cats aren’t always what they seem.”

They might as well have given him a big red button that said “Don’t Push”.

The cat ran. He followed. She let him catch her. Good kitty.
